COVID-19 is a respiratory virus spread by droplets from coughing, sneezing or breathing near someone. It can also be spread by touching someone’s skin or surfaces that are contaminated by virus particles.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 you should:
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or hand sanitiser.
Cover your cough and sneeze. It’s best to cough into your elbow or a disposable tissue.
Avoid shaking hands, hugging and kissing others, in case they have virus particles on their skin.
Avoid touching public surfaces like handrails, lift buttons or door handles and then touching your face.
A face mask is only necessary for someone who is coughing or sneezing as it reduces the spread of virus laden droplets. It offers little protection against catching COVID-19 from others.
If you suspect you have a flu-like illness, the best approach is to self-quarantine for two weeks.
If you have recently travelled abroad or have come into contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 you should get tested. Testing can be done at either Walk-in Centres, or Pathology Collection Centres. It is essential that you telephone before presenting yourself at one of these centres.
The safety of our patients and staff is our priority.
Under no circumstances should you arrive unannounced at Morris Wellness with symptoms. If you need advice, please telephone us on 6239 5881.
